Juvenile Soccer Coaches Undergo Training – Radio Univers 105.7 | Voice of Legon

A day’s coaching clinic to build the capacity of juvenile soccer instructors to help them perform, has been held at the Paa Joe Stadium, Kumasi.

The Technical Department of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) organized the programme together with the Ghana Education Service (GES).

It exposed the participants, drawn from across the country, to modern trends and techniques in juvenile coaching.

They were taught “game preparation”, “reading and variation”, “shooting”, “player management and conditioning” alongside the psychological aspect of soccer.

Baba Nuhu Mallam of the GFA Technical Department, said getting the technical department right in every team was half the job done as soccer bothered on tactics.

“Coaches have become more influential in today’s game and those who have deep understanding of tactics always emerge as the winners”, he told the GNA Sports on the sidelines of the event.

Baba Mallam said it was therefore important the soccer instructors were aided to do away with the old ways of doing things – to become abreast of modern techniques of the game.

The GFA, he said, believed in developing grassroots soccer and indicated that research showed that players, equipped with the right and basic skills at the juvenile level eventually grew into well-developed and matured stars.

He spoke of plans to organize such coaching clinics annually to take coaching to another level to meet the dynamics of the game.
