Bombande named Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister – Radio Univers 105.7 | Voice of Legon

President John Mahama has nominated a security expert Emmanuel Bombande as a deputy Foreign Affairs minister.

Widely known in Ghana for his views on conflict resolution, Emmanuel Bombande is co-founder of the West Africa Network for Peacebuilding and worked as its Executive Director for 10 years.

He resigned in 2015 to take up a diplomatic appointment as a Head of the United Nations Office for West Africa  and consequently a Special Assistant to the UN General Secretary’s Special Representative to West Africa.

His appointment was announced on Monday, by state broadcaster GBC.

Biography

Emmanuel Bombande holds a postgraduate degree in Conflict Transformation from the Eastern Mennonite University, Virginia. He got his Bachelor of Arts first degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). He had a Diploma from Cheikh Anta Diop University, Dakar in Senegal.

In 1998 Bombande co-founded, with Sam Doe, the West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP), which focuses on collaborative approaches to conflict prevention during the civil wars taking place in West Africa.

He also teaches at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), Legon Center for International Affairs (LECIA), the West Africa Peacebuilding Institute (WAPI), and conducts training with Caritas International.
