Newly admitted students of the University of Ghana can breathe a sigh of relief as authorities have decided to extend the deadline for the payment of fees.
This move follows several complaints from students lamenting the scanty 3 day period within which they must make full payments of their fees or forfeit their admission status.
For many, especially those offered the fee paying option, coughing up such monies was simply impossible within the 3 days.
The admission list for the College of Humanities and Health Sciences was released on Monday 29th August yet students were required to fully pay their school fees by 1st September.
Speaking on Campus Exclusive, Acting Head of the Academic Affairs Committee of the Students Representative Council, Naey Afful disclosed that management rescinded its decision and agreed to push back the deadline to allow ample time for students to make payments due to the many concerns raised.
Univers news check at the academic Affairs Directorate of the University also reveals that that deadline for registration has been extended to Sunday September 5, 2016.
“…stakeholders have agreed to extend the date because 1st September is almost impossible. So there wouldn’t be any need for fear and panic.”
Mr. Afful also added that an official communiqué will be issued by the SRC by the close of Sept 1 stating how long the extension will be.
“By the end of today, 1st September, the SRC will relay to our prospective students how long the extension will be.”
Lectures however officially begin on 19th September, 2016.
