Student’s Representative Council (S.R.C) President of the University of Ghana , Esinam Afi Seade has indicated that plans are far advanced to appoint substantive committee heads by the close of the week.
According to her, it was a deliberate decision by the SRC executive committee to swear in committee heads in an acting capacity during the vacation.
She also added that a SRC general assembly meeting will be held to appoint all substantive committee heads of the SRC, the meeting is expected to be facilitated by the SRC general secretary and the electoral commission.
“By close of this week, general assembly will be held, because we need to elect a speaker of the general assembly and have a dissolution of the previous house, and handing over to the new house, by this week we are going to make sure that happens” she added.
Speaking on Campus Exclusive, she also promised students that her SRC administration will be coming closer to students, starting with a massive welcome orientation program for the 2016/2017 freshmen.
She further revealed that beneficiaries of the SRC “yi bi boa” scholarship fund will be supported by the SRC.
“The yi bi boa fund is going to open application again, now those who are benefiting are those who applied from Fobi’s time, we have meeting today to look at all that, its six cedis per a student that contributed to this fund, we will make sure that whatever students are going to get will be a true reflection of whatever students are going to get, we know it’s a bit late” she said
She was however optimistic of having the best tenure of office considering the appointment of the new Vice-Chancellor and the University governing council
