The Campaign Manager for the University of Ghana Student’s Representative Council President, (UG-SRC) during the 2016 UG-SRC elections, Jacob Limit Shamatey, has accused Esinam Seade of being very immature and overrated.
According to him, he has regretted campaigning for the SRC President, because the SRC President has not been working in the interest of student after she was voted into power.
Speaking on Radio Univers morning show, Campus Exclusive, he mentioned that the SRC President is not willing to learn and has assumed a ‘Know it all’ attitude.
It is on record that the SRC President of the University of Ghana, threatened to cause the arrest of Mr. Jacob shamatey for what she describes as an interference in her administration by the latter.
“I have deeply regretted grooming and supporting Esinam to become the SRC President of this University, I’m saying this because ever since she took over, things are not really the best.. she became unapproachable after she won the elections” he said.
He was however quick to add that, though he is disappointed in the Esinam Afi Seade led administration, he believes that she needs some time to make her administration better.
Mr. Jacob Shamatey in the interview also revealed that but for his intervention, University of Ghana students would have had to pay utility bills because at the time the issue became topical, the University of Ghana SRC President had assume an indifferent stance on the matter.
He however failed to confirm or deny allegations that Esinam Seade had been bribed by top Government officials to keep quiet on the utility bills issue, he also denied allegations that he sometime ago claimed on social media that the 2016 University of Ghana SRC elections was rigged in favour of SRC President Esinam Seade.
“Had it not been my effort, and the pressure I mounted on the SRC, Students may have had to be paying utility bills for this academic year, .. that was the main reason why Esinam Afi Seade decided to treat me the way she did by insulting me ..”
Background
The University of Ghana SRC President has come under fire in the past few days for some unpopular decisions she has made as SRC President.
Ms. Esinam Seade after winning elections has been faced with a lot of internal wranglings within her administration. She recently sacked the External Affairs Committee Head of the SRC, Mr. Derrick Abotsi for misconduct and challenging the authorities of the SRC president.
The Former UG-SRC P.R.O, Schandorf Ayirebi Acquah had earlier resigned on the grounds of constitutional breaches; unresponsive to students need and financial imprudent characterized the University of Ghana SRC under Ms. Seade.
