We Pushed For Street Lights At Diaspora- UG-SRC Vice Prez – Radio Univers 105.7 | Voice of Legon

Vice-President of the Student Representative Council at the University of Ghana has refuted allegations that there is a lack of proactivity from his office. Concerns have been raised by students about the SRC’s failure to tackle the external lighting systems on campus. Speaking on Campus Exclusive on Radio Univers  on Monday, the Vice president said the SRC pushed for the street lights at the at the southern parts of the university campus popularly known as the “Diaspora”, adding that his administration is making positive strides in ensuring that the street lights on campus are functioning to safeguard student safety and visibility on campus.

“The street light initially was not there but has now been installed, now the point is its function.  And so once the MP has taken the initiative to actually bring street lights there and he’s hoping to commission it this particular year, I think it is best that we push it from that end, then we’ll follow up from there. And to say that there is lack of proactivity in my office, that I wouldn’t agree because in the first place we actually pushed for the street lights at the diaspora”, he said.

The SRC Vice- President further advised students to be conscious of their personal security.

“There’s the need for us to be conscious about our own safety and security. I would want to advise that we walk in pairs and walk in places of light and be conscious about your safety and security on campus”, he concluded.
