MESTI Takes Fuel Stations Inspection Exercise To Central Region – Radio Univers 105.7 | Voice of Legon

Dr Bernice Hello, Deputy Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI), says the Ministry would continue to intensify its monitoring and inspection to ensure that safety measures at fuel stations are adhered to.

This she said is being done in collaboration with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Electricity Company of Ghana, the Ghana National Fire Service and the National Petroleum Authority.

Dr Heloo made the remarks when she embarked on a fact finding mission to Agona Asafo in the Swedru Municipality of the Central Region to inspect fuel stations at the Winneba Junction and Swedru Township.

The inspection took the team to Benjoco Gas and Compass Oleum Stations both at Agona Jukwa where both stations did not meet the safety requirements and where served with letters to report to the EPA Head Office.
However Rich Oil at Agona Asafo had fulfilled all obligations and met all requirements.

She said the lives of the citizenry are valuable and precious than individual interests, hence the Ministry would not in any way compromise safety standards.

The Deputy Minister said the safety and protection of the citizenry is the responsibility of all and urged them to report any problem to the EPA and other regulatory bodies for immediate action.
