President John Dramani Mahama has performed the ceremony to officially inaugurate the Adobewura Community
Day Senior High School (SHS) in the Atwima-Mponua District, with a pledge to put more resources into the development of education.
He said the massive infrastructure growth of the sector, seen under his watch, by way of the construction and refurbishment of classroom structures, teachers’ accommodation and supply of furniture would continue.
President Mahama, who is in the Ashanti Region, as part of his three-day “accounting to the people tour” said his government was determined to ensure that every Ghanaian child had access to quality education.
The Adobewura SHS is one of the 200 community day SHS the government was building across the country.
He encouraged people in the beneficiary community to own the school and make sure that it was properly maintained.
President Mahama counseled against politicizing development projects, saying, all should unite behind efforts at bringing progress – to help transform the living conditions of the people.
He presented a bus and a pick-up to the school during the ceremony.
Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Minister of Education, asked all stakeholders to accept to play their expected roles well to enhance the academic performance of the schools.
She said everybody must share the responsibility of ensuring that the substantial investment in the sector achieved the desired outcomes.
Nana Kwame Amponsem, chief of Adobewura, said the people were grateful to the government for the project.
