World Education Graduates 1,035 children In Tolon District – Radio Univers 105.7 | Voice of Legon

The Complementary Basic Education (CBE), under the World Education programme, has graduated 1,035 children in the Tolon District.

The CBE recruited children in 48 communities who were not in school and those that drop out of school and offered them the needed education to enable them enroll into the formal education.

The World Education (WE) started the CBE implementation in 2015 with funding from DFID with the aim of improving education, especially in rural areas.

Mr Mohammed Sheriff Ayuu, the District Coordinator of WE, speaking at a function lauded the programme and expressed hope that many more children would benefit from the programme.

“Upon considering several factors the total enrolled figure stood at 1,052 with a total of 40 classrooms established in 38 communities and 40 facilitators recruited from the various communities but only 1,035 are graduating,” he said.

He said regular and intensive training were organised in every three months to sharpen the skills of the facilitators of the programme.

Mr Ayuu appealed to the Ministry of Education and the District Assembly to consider building schools in all the deprived communities of the district to ensure that all children benefit from the programme.

Mr Amoli Abaako, the District Director of Education commended the WE for the enormous strides geared towards improving education in the area and pledged to support the initiative.

Bicycles and other awards were presented to the facilitators to motivate them as means of improving the programme.
