President John Dramani Mahama on Thursday began a two-day Accounting to the People tour of the Upper West Region with the promise to begin commercial flights to Wa by October this year.
He said underground work for the take-off of the programme was almost complete and gave the assurance that the beginning of the commercial flights would provide another string and alternative means of transport to the people.
President Mahama has already inspected on-going work on the new 180-bed capacity Wa Regional Hospital.
He also inspected infrastructural projects at the Wa Campus of the University for Development Studies and called on the Wa Naa, Seidu Pelpuo IV.
President Mahama would be inaugurating a new Library project at Wa and a new water project in Wellembelle in the Sissala East District.
On his second day of the tour, President Mahama would hold a meeting with religious leaders, inspect on-going projects at the new Military Barracks, Nandom District Assembly and the Wa Airstrip.
Currently, Wa has an airstrip but expansion projects are underway to facilitate the beginning of commercial flights as President Mahama had promised.
