Duration of Senior High Schools

Polytechnics Conversions into Universities
The University of Ghana Vice-Chancellor further criticized the government’s basis for the planned conversion of polytechnics into technical universities.
According to him, such a move by Government is only in the interest of a few groups of people and does not represent the views of majority stakeholders involved.
In his explanation, he mentioned that Polytechnics rely on skills acquired during their studies and are responsible for putting into practice the ideas from University graduates into the industry sector.
He opined that Polytechnics and the Universities have two distinct roles to play in the development of the country.
“We know it will go wrong but why are we doing it; we are doing it because it will make a few people happy,” When you turn a polytechnic into a university, you are saying spend more time doing research and generating ideas. Is that what we want?” he added.
