CLOGSAG Calls Off Strike – Radio Univers 105.7 | Voice of Legon

The Civil and Local Government Service Staff Association of Ghana (CLOSSAG), has called of its three week-long strike. This follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between leadership of CLOGSAG and the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Haruna Iddrisu today (Thursday).

Before the signing of the MOU the Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG,   Dr. Isaac Bampoe – Addo, said they took the decision because of good faith shown by government.

CLOGSSAG members laid down their tools about three weeks ago to demand the payment of their 15% interim market premium. They had refused to return to work until their demands are met. Several meetings they had with the Labour Ministry also failed to yield any positive results. Meanwhile President John Mahama while speaking at the 10th Quadrennial Delegates Conference of the TUC in Kumasi, said any attempt to yield to CLOGSAG demands “will throw the budget completely off track, and make nonsense of the sacrifices we have made together over the last year.” He however assured them that their demands were going to be factored into the 2017 budget, and hence directed the Minister of of Employment and Labour to sign a MoU with CLOGSAG to that effect.
