The ministry of sports has reached an agreement with the Indian Government for the construction of a water based hockey pitch.

The minister of youth and sports, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye made the relevation at the launch of the World Hockey League held yesterday August 31, 2016 at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium in Accra.

According to the Minister this partnership will also provide technical support and also organise a training course for hockey coaches in the country.

He further commended  the association and pledged more governmental support in making the sports attractive to the youth especially in the country.

“We are determined to give attention to the lesser known sports and hockey is one. I tell people that the sacrifices that are always made by the hockey fraternity should be a catalyst for much governmental support. Hockey on their own are doing fantastic and so why don’t we give them the little support that they need in order reach the heights that they set for themselves.”

Ghana will host the 2016 World Hockey League whichbegins from September 9, 2016  to  September 11, 2016.
