The Chief of Staff. Hon Julius Debrah has commended President Mahama for making it possible to have a maiden flight directly from Tamale to Hajj for Muslims.
According to him, several years ago, most people wouldn’t have believed that it was possible to fly directly from Tamale to Mecca, but by the Grace and mercies of God, President John Mahama’s government has made it possible now.
Speaking on Behalf of the President John Mahama at the official inauguration of the federation of Islamic senior high schools In Ghana (FISHIG), Hon. Julius Debrah, added that the President asked him to tell all Muslims gathered at the event to be grateful to Allah for making it possible.
“He also asked me to ask all of you to give praise and thanks to Allah for making it possible for us to have a maiden flight directly from Tamale to Hajj this year.. He believes strongly that it is only the wish and power of Allah which has made it possible, several years ago most people would not have believe this was possible” he said
The Chief of Staff further revealed at the launch of FISHIG, that plans are far advanced by Government to make the Study of the Arabic language at the Senior high school an examinable course by the year 2017, and made examinable at the Basic Education certificate Examination (BECE) level in the year 2018.
Hon. Julius Debrah revealed that Government is putting measures in place to ensure that the colleges of education are empowered in training and developing more Islamic Scholars and teachers.
The Chief of staff further lauded the leadership of the various Islamic schools in Ghana on their decision to form a federation in the country.
According to him, the federation will facilitate and improve relations between schools and government in order to promote quality and holistic education in Country.
“To commemorate the inauguration of the federation of the Islamic Senior High school is Ghana, having working assiduously with the education ministry, His Excellency, will want me to inform you that by 2017, Arabic Language is going to be examinable at the high school level,… by 2018 the Arabic language is going to be examinable at the BECE level”
