Coach of the Alexaner Adum Kwapong basketball team Ibrahim Mukhtar has set his sights on winning the ultimate for the hall at the end of the University Of Ghana 2016/2017 basketball season.
The 2016/2017 University Of Ghana basketball league is set to kick off on Wednesday September 28, 2016.
The Kwapong basketball team made a historic Top 4 appearance last season but failed to make the finals of the league as they could only settle for a third place finish
In an exclusive with Universports ahead of their crucial encounter against Jean Nelson Hall Ibrahim says his team is well prepared and ready for the season
He believes he has the best crop of players available on campus
“So far we are preparing hard towards the game and I know with my boys I can win the game and they are working hard towards the league. I know we are the best team on campus. I know we didn’t win the league last year but we have the best team and best players on campus.
When you talk about Wolff you are talking about the undisputed champion on campus. I have players like Gerald who is like a monster now. I also have the best point guard on campus in Gibril and I have my captain Siddick who is also very good.
We are not losing any points to anybody. We are going all out. With the support of the fans I am going to bring the trophy home.”
He was quick to add that Jean Nelson will not be an easy opponent
“Jean Nelson has a great team. They have players like Joel who is very good but you cannot win the game with an individual player. You need to play as a team and so Joel alone is not a threat to us. They are very strong side and I am expecting them to do very well but I hope to beat them”
The Kwapong basketball team will kick start their campaign against Jean Nelson on Wednesday 0ctober 27, at the University of Ghana basketball court at 3pm
