[Report] Students Reject Imani Report Ratings on Education – Radio Univers 105.7 | Voice of Legon

Some students have said that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) have not done much in the past four years to develop the educational sector in the country, a view which is contrary to an Imani Ghana final report card on the NDC performance in Office in the past four years.

The students where responding to a research report by Imani Ghana where the policy think tank scored the ruling government a 69.4% on their performance in the educational sector.

The students were of the view that the NDC failed to fulfill most of their campaign promises on education notable among the promises was the 200 community day senior high schools government promised to build, prior to the 2012 general elections.

Most of the students who spoke to Univers News Mensa Duncan failed to score Government above 50%, thereby questioning the indicators used by Imani Ghana who were ranked 2nd most influential think tank in Africa in 2015.

Imani Researcher, Festus Ankrah mentioned that only 10 community day senior high schools promised by President Mahama has been completed, and inaugurated with a further 113 schools at various stages of completion.

He further revealed that a total of 2,031 schools under trees have been eliminated by the ruling government as of June 2016.

He however mentioned that Government promised to supply 400,000 laptops to students but only 51,000 laptops had been distributed.

Imani Ghana gave the ruling government a 69.4% rating on their performance in the educational sector,  the score which Imani describes as Good.

Imani Ghana scored the NDC an overall score of 52.9%. The final comprehensive report touched on certain key thematic areas such as governance, education, social policy & infrastructure.

Founding President of Imani Ghana, Franklin Cudjoe in an Interview with Univers News mentioned that the result was a fair result

“If you write an exam and you score a 53%, that seems fair, I think is a pass mark, I think they could have done better” he said.
