UG SRC Prez. Accused Of Misconduct At USAG Congress – Radio Univers 105.7 | Voice of Legon

University Students Association of Ghana presidential candidate Joseph Agyekum has lamented the poor conduct of the University of Ghana SRC at the just ended USAG congress in Kumasi.

The USAG congress that commenced on Wednesday 17th August witnessed an unfortunate turn of events by its scheduled end on Saturday 21st August as the elections to select new executives of the association failed to see the light of day. Reports from the congress suggested feeding and accommodation problems which forced some delegates to sleep in buses. The disqualification of Mr. Malik Basentelli , a candidate for the presidency that resulted in the postponement of the entire elections.

Speaking on Campus Exclusive on Wednesday Mr. Agyekum also known as JO alleged that the president of the University of Ghana SRC  Esinam Afi Seade  tarnished the image of the university after involving herself in what he believes are shady dealings at the congress.

“They didn’t do well at all! Look at the likes of my own president Esinam. What happened was really a total bizarre. We’ve disgraced our institution. UG has disgraced us. They’ve failed us totally!?- He said.

According to JO, the disqualification of his opponent Malik Basentelli should have been accepted by all parties for the smooth running of the USAG elections.

“I got to realize the tension. I mean the catastrophe that sparked up on congress grounds after Malik Basentelli was disqualified. That showed me a whole lot of things that would have transpired underground.? He added.

Mr. Joseph Agyekum still maintained that he is the best candidate for presidency thus encouraging all students to rally behind him.
