A male teacher suspected to be a gay has been arrested by the Atebubu police in the Brong Ahafo Region for attempted sodomy on a 19 year old boy.
The suspect, Joshua Baayi Bindi, a 31 year old teacher who lured the boy through Facebook and attempted to have sexual relations with him was arrested last Saturday night and he admitted to the act.
He however noted that he has been engaged in sodomy since 2003 when he was a senior high school student and that it was his school father who introduced him to the unnatural practice.
District Police Commander, Chief Supt Joseph Dzinaku, who presented the facts, told the court that Joshua met his victim through the popular social media site, Facebook from where they communicated for some time.
The commander said the suspect who told the boy he was in Kumasi later proposed love to the boy noting that the 19 year old became alarmed for which reason he discussed the issue with his elder brother.
“He discussed the issue with his elder brother who advised him to accept so that they get him arrested and handed over to the police”, he added.
Later, the teacher told the boy he would like to pay him a visit at Atebubu since he has an apartment there so they have sexual intercourse and strengthen their relationship which enticed the boy.
They two agreed to meet up on Saturday, 24th September, 2016 and about 7:30pm, Supt Dzinaku said the teacher who was on a motorbike met with the boy in his house as arraigned. ‘He was taking off the boy’s trousers when the police arrived at the scene and apprehended him in the room’.
In a self-defense statement, the culprit told the police, “I am possessed by a demon that is affecting me and I sought assistance from TB Joshua in Nigeria but the spirit is still using me after my return to Ghana”, he stated.
According to prosecution, Bindi was on Tuesday, 27thSeptember, 2016 arraigned on two counts of unnatural canal knowledge before the Atebubu Magistrate Court which has remanded him in police custody to appear again next Tuesday, 3rd October, 2016. He however pleaded with the court to forgive him and release him since he is being controlled by evil spirits.
