The Ministry of Interior has indicated that Friday, November 4, 2016 is not a public holiday.
Members of the general public have been supposing that the day will be a holiday since the National Farmers Day will be marked on that day.
Most Ghanaians have been praying for Friday to be declared a holiday since they want to plan for the day accordingly.
But according to a statement signed by the Minister of Interior, Prosper Bani stated that “the statutory Farmers Day holiday which falls on Friday 2nd December, 2016, would be declared a public holiday appropriately.”
Farmers Day is being marked earlier than the statutory day because of the general elections which is slated for December 7.
The full statement is below;
“The Ministry of Interior wishes to bring to the the attention of the general public that, in spite of the fact that this year’s National Farmer’s day celebration will be marked on Friday 4th November, 2016, the day WILL NOT BE OBSERVED AS A PUBLIC HOLIDAY.
The statutory Farmer’s Day Holiday, which falls on Friday 2nd December, 2016, would be declared a public holiday appropriate.”
