A section of the social media community in Ghana are enraged over a video making rounds on the platform that captures a subject teacher physically abusing a student.
The teacher, who is yet to be identified, was captured delivering a resounding slap on the left cheek of a student before hitting the back of his head amidst raining abusive words on him.
The video clip captured some students laughing in unison following the teacher’s supposed disciplinary action.
Although it is unclear what may have provoked the teacher’s actions, it appears he found the victim most likely to have made an unpleasant comment while he was teaching in class.
The Ghana Education Service frowns upon physical abuse by teachers against their students as a form of punishment although it prescribes sanctions such as keeping the child in class during break to finish up his/her work and making sitting arrangements that facilitated supervision and prevented children from misbehaving.
The video was captured by an amateur photographer, also a student, who witnessed the action.
