Lecturer at the Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana Dr. Obadele Kambon says the newly built Statue of Mahatma Ghandi at the University of Ghana campus must be removed.
According to him, the statue of Mahatma Ghandi must be removed from the University of Ghana regardless of its repercussions to the country.
Speaking on Radio Univers morning show Campus Exclusive, Dr. Obadele kambon described Mahatma Ghandi as an enemy of the African people, and added that he did not want to share the same space as blacks.
The lecturer explained that the Mahatma Ghandi statue on the University of Ghana campus will not serve as a good precedent for future generations
“Mahatma Ghandi should fall in the University of Ghana immediately, the repercussion are the future generation will say look at our ‘imbecile’ ancestors who allowed this enemy of African people to stand and they don’t have a single representation of who we aspire to be as African people” he said.
Dr. Obadele Kambon further revealed that Mahatma Ghandi was a racist and a pedophile, hence was not worth celebrating in the University of Ghana.
Meawhile, some University of Ghana students have been reacting to the newly erected statue of former Indian nationalist leader Mahatma Ghandi on the University of Ghana campus on social media.

The statue was unveiled as part of activities marking Indian President H.E Pranab Mukherjee’s visit to the University last month.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Prof. Ernest Aryeetey in his welcome address during Mr. Pranab Mukherjee’s visit mentioned that the University’s ties with India have always been strong.
Prof Ernest Aryeetey also expressed gratitude to His Excellency Mr. Pranab Mukherjee and the Indian government for presenting the gift statue of Mahatma Gandhi, whom he described as an international icon.
The statue is situated behind the Balme Library on the University of Ghana campus.
