“Service Personnel Requested For Extension” -Kpessa Whyte – Radio Univers 105.7 | Voice of Legon

The Acting Executive Director of the National Service Scheme Dr. Micheal Kpessah-Whyte has revealed that his outfit decided to extend the time-frame for the national service for interested personnel as a result of pressure from some service personnel.

Speaking in an Exclusive Interview with Univers News, he added that his office received lots of messages through National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) to extend the service period because the personnel were enjoying their service.

“The extension for National service personnel was implemented because NASPA requested for the six months extension of the program” he added.

He also urged National Service personnel who are interested in the extension period to fully take advantage of the new program, but he however revealed that all applicants will not have the opportunity to remain at the previous place of posting.

Background

Management of the National Service Scheme has ofered to grant an optional extension of six months to service personnel for the 2015/2016 service year who wish to be redeployed for additional duties in the extension period.

The statement further indicated that “redeployment of personnel for the purposes of the extension will be mainly to public sector user agencies including educational institutions especially schools, the National Commission for Civic Education, Electoral Commission and various units and departments within the District Assemblies across the country.”
