Deputy Headmistress of University of Ghana Basic School, Mrs. Christiana Armah has encouraged the youth to take up the teaching profession as a career to ensure the acquisition development that accompany profession.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organizations proclaimed October 5 to be Teachers Day in 1994, to set forth the rights and responsibilities of teachers as well as international standards for their initial preparation and further education, recruitment, employment, teaching and learning conditions.
Speaking to Univers News on the commemoration of the World Teachers Day on Wednesday, Mrs. Armah explained that the teaching profession offers a myriad of opportunities ranging from personal to professional and can be explored to improve the life of the practitioner. She also added that the field allows individual to study more to further enhance the life of the practitioner if fully maximized.
“People are always there to help out at points in your life. So I advise them to go into the field and make the best out of it. You are a teacher, you don’t just go and finish your three year post secondary education and say I’m done. You can do your diploma, degree, masters, MPhil, PhD; you can rise to the top all in the teaching field. So I advise you to go in there and make the best out of it because, i have made the best out of teaching�?, she said.
Mrs. Christiana added that teachers in Ghana need enough workshops to upgrade their skill.
