Former local National Union of Ghana Students(NUGS) President from the University of Professional Studies(UPS), Mutaka Musah has said that the student’s union body is now a rot since some of the executives are using the union for their Political gains a situation he claims affecting the union negatively.
Speaking with the media and some students at the University of Professional Studies (UPS) in a press conference dubbed “Ordeal of students of Ghana very pathetic; NUGs is a curse rather than a blessing”
“ interesting but shocking revelation which states that two are playing the devils advocates and bidding of their pay master which are the two political parties, that is the NDC and NPP “, he said.
He further noted that, some of the current NUGS leaders have failed the Ghanaian students for using the mother union to enrich themselves or fulfill their political ambitions at the expense of students.
“as we speak now there are two congresses held to elect a new crop of leaders. one is held at Hohoe in the Volta region and the other congress at the nation’s capital city here in Accra but how can we have two Presidents just has what happened during Abotsi Anthony and Hamza Suhuhini”, he asked.
“We therefore give the current executives two weeks ultimatum to reshape, reorganize and recall for a united congress for the union or face the wrath of students”, he warned.
