14th Ghana International Book Fair Launched – Radio Univers 105.7 | Voice of Legon

The 14th Ghana International book fair has been launched at the forecourt of the National theater in Accra. The four-day event is scheduled to take place between Thursday August 18th, to Sunday August 21.

The theme for the 14th Ghana International book fair is “Growing the knowledge-based economy through reading”.

The opening ceremony of the event was chaired by the second lady of the republic of Ghana, Mrs. Matilda Amissah Arthur, The Minister of Education, Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang was the special Guest of honor.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Minister of Education, Professor Naana Opoku Aggyemang urged all book publishers to form stronger relationships with the editorial team for their works.

According to her, it is very important that publishers entrust their editorial work into the hands of individuals with the highest quality.

She further revealed that the Ministry of Education in consultation with other relevant stakeholders are putting in place measures to ensure that all book publishers involve their potential readers in the make up of the book, in order to ensure sure that all readers fully understand and can appreciate whatever book they are reading.

The second lady, Mrs. Matilda Amissah Arthur in her closing remark, advised all Parents and teachers, to buy books as gifts to their children, since no information is too small.

She urged the public to read wide and read anything they come across.

Other invited guests at the event were, the vice President of Imani Ghana, Mr. Kofi Bentil, President of the Ghana Book Publishers Association, Mr. Elliot Agyare.
