UG Soccer League; City Campus Begin Season With Victory – Radio Univers 105.7 | Voice of Legon

City Campus began their season on a high on Wednesday evening as they defeated the Distance Education football team by two goals to one in their season opener.

Evans Koduah put City Campus in the in 21st minute as he turned home a lovely cross from the right wing with an inch perfect half volley. The Distance Education team threw men forward in search of an equalizer but the defenders of the City Campus were compact at the back as they kept their opponents at bay for the first half.

The City Campus side started the second half with some intensity as they pressed high up the pitch in search of a second goal with their supporters cheering them on. The supporters were sent into ecstasy in the 60th minute as captain of the side Solomon Hadjor made a swift run into the box and turned home a cross from close range as City Campus took a two goal lead.

An inspired change by the coach of the Distance Education side paid off as substitute Moro Alhassan pulled one back for the side with a little over fifteen minutes left to play.

The game failed to start as scheduled as referee Emmanuel Sowah reported forty-five minutes after the stipulated kick-off time. Fans didn’t get the chance to witness the game in all its free flowing nature as they were asked to move from one side of the pitch the other due to clearing of weed around the pitch as the game was in section.

The game was however one that left the fans of City Campus with a lot to cheer about and Solomon Hadjor was pleased to get his name on the score sheet and believes he and his colleagues have what it takes to clinch the ultimate.

The other ended goalless between Akuaffo hall and Elizabeth Frances Sey hall. City Campus will face Akuaffo Hall in their next game with Distance Education playing Elizabeth Frances Sey hall.
