Head of the Cosmetic and Household Chemical Substance at the FDA Mr. Emmanuel Nkrumah has disclosed to Univers news that proceedings are already in place to clear the market of bleaching creams which contain hydroquinone.
The FDA last year indicated that a ban on cosmetic products containing skin bleaching ingredient hydroquinone was to take effect from August 2016 in accordance with a directive from the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA).
“For the ones which are already on the market we expect that by December we get rid of them,not bleaching creams in general but the ones which contain hydroquinone. “
Mr. Nkrumah further noted that his outfit will by the end of the year get rid of all skin bleaching cream containing hydroquinone from the markets nationwide.
