Supreme Court orders EC To Delete Over 56,000 NHIS Registrants From Register – Radio Univers 105.7 | Voice of Legon

The Supreme Court has ordered the Electoral Commission headed by Madam Charlotte Osei to remove from the register names of the 56,739 persons who registered with the National Health Insurance cards.

The court also ordered the Electoral Commission to delete persons whose names had not submitted to the Supreme Court but were able to  register with the NHIS cards.

The Electoral Commission has been ordered to issue out a public notice to all individuals who registered with the NHIS cards before undertaking the exercise to remove their names

The Legal counsel for the plaintiff had some reservations on the credibility of the names presented by the EC as those with NHIS cards.

Nonetheless, lawyer for the Plaintiffs Frank Davies said he and his clients are extremely grateful to the court for the clarity brought to the matter by the judges.

“They have been asked literally to do another list,” he said adding, “We are all going to ensure that there is compliance with what the court has finally ordered.”he said.

The plaintiff  Mr. Abu Ramadan told journalists after the court  that “We are happy that the court has given further clarity on the issue.”

He further added that the  ruling by the court only meant  that the list presented by the EC was erroneous.
