South African record producer, Black Coffee has been announced winner of the Best International Act, Africa category at the 2016 BET Awards.
Black Coffee beat competition from MzVee (Ghana), AKA (South Africa), Cassper Nyovest (South Africa), Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania), Serge Beynaud (Cote D’ivoire), Wizkid (Nigeria) and Yemi Alade (Nigeria).
The presentation was done ahead of the main event slated for Sunday, June 26 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, United States of America.
In 2015, Ghana’s afro/dancehall artiste Stonebwoy beat his counterpart Sarkodie, AKA (South Africa), Fally Ipupa (DR Congo), Sauti Sol (Kenya), The Soil (South Africa), Wizkid (Nigeria) and Yemi Alade (Nigeria) to win the category.
MzVee is the first female Ghanaian artiste to be nominated in the category after Kojo Antwi (2010), D Black (2011), Sarkodie (2012, 2014, 2015), R2Bees (2013) and Stonebwoy (2015).
