NAGRAT Threatens Legal Action Against Government If… – Radio Univers 105.7 | Voice of Legon

The National Association of Graduate Teachers has expressed displeasure towards government’s failure to release subventions intended to facilitate effective teaching and learning. In an exclusive interview with Univers News,  the Greater Accra Regional Secretary for NAGRAT, Mr. Kwame Heva noted that the non-payment of money coupled with huge sums of of arrears owed them and non-provision of logistics, is largely to blame for the poor performances of students.

“… everybody is saying that the subvention have not been released and so its affecting the work in the classroom that is why you are seeing the kind of results that is coming theses days. Its because the logistics that they need to work with and those who are supposed to give out the logistics. are also complaining that those who are supposed to supply which is government, is not supplying that is how come we are where we are” he said.

Mr.Heva further called on the government to expedite action in the release of these funds to facilitate the smooth running of teaching and learning. He however hinted that the Association is ready to consider legal action if their concerns are not addressed.

“Moneys should be released timeously so that everybody will have their own to work with. We have reactionary legal rights and so if it becomes necessary for us to apply any of them, we will not hesitate in applying it.
