More than 400 academic staff, business leaders and government officials across the commonwealth region are expected to attend this year’s University leaders’ conference in Accra.
The conference is scheduled to take place at the Accra International Conference Centre between 27th and 29th July and will be the first to be held in sub-Saharan Africa.
According to a release issued by Vice Chancellors Ghana (VCG), the conference will focus on key thematic areas including democratic governance and development of civil society, Entrepreneurship, Creativity and innovation.
“This international conference of academia in the Commonwealth offers local universities and Ghana a rare opportunity to show their contribution to Higher Education, as a lead country spearheading Africa’s science and technology education and training. This is something Ghana should be proud of.”
The conference will be held under the theme, “Defining the Responsible University: Society, Impact and Growth.”
President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, former UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan as well as the Sec. Gen of the Commonwealth, Rt. Hon. Patricia – Scotland are among a host of dignitaries expected at the conference.
