Vice-President of the Republic of Ghana His Excellency Paa- Kwesi Amissah Arthur has said the Government of Ghana is grateful to all national service personnel for their service to the country.
Mr. Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur speaking at the National Service ‘Day of Gratitude’ program for the 2015/2016 National Service personnel, commended the National service secretariat for instituting the national service ‘Day of Gratitude’ for the 2015/2016 service personnel.
According to him the National service program has evolved over the past few years, and has become an efficient tool in addressing problems in some communities.
“The day of gratitude really should be you grateful to us for sending you away so you can know the country, We are grateful for the work you have done and the work you continue to do for the country” he said.
He further urged national service personnel who have been posted to rural areas to use the opportunities to explain Government policies and social intervention programs to individuals in rural areas.
“Help explain policies and various developments to the people you work with, we are going through the national exhibition of the voters register, you have to encourage the people you work with, the people in the communities that you are to go check their names and explain the issues in simple terms”
He also advised all service Personnel to be appreciative of the national service scheme for giving all service personnel the opportunity to know their country through service.
Background
The National Service Secretariat organised a ‘Day of Gratitude’ program for all the 2015/2016 national service personnel at Burma Camp.
The event was geared towards showing appreciation to all National service personnel for the 2015/2016 service year.
