Investigative Journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas has implored the youth to remain firm, in the face of myriad of adversary that they may encounter in their attempt to facilitate change in our society. The award winning journalist highlighted dynamism as a vital factor in defying the status quo. Anas Aremeyaw Anas made this assertion during a political debate on Youth Unemployment and Corruption.
“There must be some level of dynamism in us as African youth because we cannot maintain the status quo. In order to make that positive and strong change within our society, we ought to think differently. There will be a lot of walls that you will come across when you want to take those positions… but i cant tell you, it works. When i look back and i see that smile on that little child who was trafficked and I’ve saved, I smile with a lot of pride”, he said.
The event which was organized by the Young Africans Initiative Network at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration here in Accra, also saw Anas further caution the gathering of youthful enthusiasts to refrain from alienating themselves from the security agencies. He however advised them to rather exhibit a high level of co-operation to ensure the greater good of the society.
“If i decide that I want to collaborate with my brother here[policeman], he’s one of us, he only changes when he wears the uniform… We see the crimes in society, his wish is to make sure that those crimes don’t exist again. So why should i maintain some level of exclusivity and say that I’m not prepared to work with my brother. It just doesn’t make sense”, he added.
The masked man finally entreated the citizenry to play they role to help curb corruption.
