Director of Communication for the coalition of concerned teachers Adokoe Awule is calling on the ghana education service to hold the supervisors who oversaw the Basic education certificate examination accountable. According to him the negligence of these supervisors is responsible for this practice.
The Council withheld the entire results of candidates from 321 schools pending the conclusion of investigations into alleged examination irregularities. In a statement WAEC announced that the release of the provisional results saw candidates from 1,025 schools engaging in examination malpractice via the Item Differentia Profile (IDP) software.
However speaking to univers news Mr. Awule called on all stake holders to come to a consensus to solve this menace
“this thing has been occurring every year. definitely we cannot have a 100% accurate BECE. We teachers are doing whatever it takes to improve the standard so that we can have confidence in the BECE they are writing. it is however unfortunate that the result of 321 schools have had their results withheld by WAEC. I just hope that it was not only based on the software that they used to detect the malpractice but if other factors were inclusive, then the supervisors should also be held accountable. we want all stakeholders to have a meeting and WAEC itself overhauled to take a critical look at our system of examination”
Mr. Awule is further calling for the establishment of another examination body that will work in collaboration with the WAEC
“we have indicated from the time to time that the monopoly enjoyed by WAEC must be cancelled. we should have another examination body who will work hand in hand with WAEC to ensure transparency”
