The minister of sports, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye hinted of the agreement when he was addressing the media at the Media launch of the World Hockey League held yesterday the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium in Accra

According to the Minister this partnership will also provide technical support to the Hockey association

 

“The next focus of the ministry is to lease with the Ghana hockey association and before we came in I have already established a relationship with the Indian government through the Indian high commission for the development of a water based Astro turf. They are ready to cooperate in technical assistance by giving us not only support to build the turf but also to give us technical support to give our coaches the opportunity to go there for courses and also bring people here to hold coaching clinics,” Minister of sports said

 

He went to praise the Ghana Hockey Association and pledged more Governmental Support

 

“We are determined to give attention to the lesser known sports and hockey is one. I tell people that the sacrifices that are always made by the hockey fraternity should be a catalyst for much governmental support. Hockey on their own are doing fantastic and so why don’t we give them the little support that they need in order reach the heights that they set for themselves.”

Ghana will host the 2016 World Hockey League which will span for a period of three days from 9th September to 11th September
