The General Secretary of Ghana Mines Workers Union, Prince William Ankrah has called on media houses to scrutinize promises made by the Presidential Candidates of the various political parties.
According to him, it will help electorates across the country hold leaders accountable. Politicians over the years have been accused of making pronouncements which are not feasible during election years.
Meanwhile, he also tasked the ministry of information to educate electorates in the rural areas as they are mostly victims.
“I would extend to the Ministry of Information to make sure that people vote on issues that will transform their lives in reality”,he said.
He also called on the youth to shun away from what he describes as unscrupulous politicians who incite them into violence.
“The Youth should be more focused ,more articulate, discerning ,asking relevant questions, making sure they understand what goes on around them”.
He said that, when addressing the National Executive Council Meeting of the Mine workers Union in Kumasi.
He further advised the public not to only base their votes on the promises of presidential candidates.
