Government Must Regulate the Activities of NGOs – Dr. Bawole – Radio Univers 105.7 | Voice of Legon

Head of the Department of Public Administration and Health Services Management of the University of Ghana, Dr. Justice Nyigmah Bawole has called on government to put in place pragmatic measures that will regulate the activities of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in the country.

According to him, NGOs for a long time have been given the free space to operate without proper monitoring from government.

We cannot exist in a country without the regulation of NGOs whatsoever, he decried.

Speaking on Radio Univers’ morning show Campus Exclusive, Dr. Bawole indicated that the state must take up the responsibility of putting together an independent committee to monitor NGOs.

This he believes is a way to ensure accountability in the management of ‘not for profit’ organizations.

The development policy and management expert also added that this initiative if considered, would not only give some form of legitimacy and approval to the operations of NGOs but would also brighten the chances of NGOs receiving grants from donors.
