Government to Support ICT development – Prez Mahama – Radio Univers 105.7 | Voice of Legon

President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated government’s commitment to the development of information technology in the country.

Speaking at the 2nd Africa Mobile and ICT Expo in Accra yesterday, the President expressed optimism Ghana will lead the way in the field of IT across the continent.

According to him, the deregulation of licensing for broadband operators is among key measures adopted by government to ensure economic growth through information technology.

“Government is putting in place the right and progressive policies needed for the center to grow and flourish while investing big in the infrastructure needed; in the last few years, we have been working and creating the right environment, policies and investment for our youth to flourish in the digital sector, the key decision I took was to deregulate licensing”

The President further added that the Ministry of communication is also developing a number of interventions such as the ICT Park in Tema to boost the innovation ecosystem and enhance digital opportunities for Ghanaians.
