Organizers of the Tertiary Most Beautiful contest have been accused of deceiving members of the University of Ghana sports council into the organization of a supposed collaborative peace walk that ended with the contest organizers putting up no show.
According to the sports council, the organizers had promised to provide souvenirs, refreshment for participants and other branded materials to communicate peace however they failed to honor their obligations.
An executive of the University of Ghana Students sports council Kafui Faraday told Univers Sports, only two representatives from the pageant were seen at the walk and they even failed to participate.
She lamented that the duo were only taking photos and did not involved themselves in the activities there were being undertaken.
The second University of Ghana students’ sports council health walk dubbed “Time for peace” took place last weekend at the University of Handball court.
The “Time for Peace” walk was intended to bring students from the University of Ghana and the contestants of the “Tertiary Most Beautiful” pageant together to take part in a jogging exercise and an aerobics session.
The walk was to serve as a platform for the beauty queens to preach the peace agenda ahead of the December 7 elections. Per the terms of the collaboration, Tertiary Most Beautiful was to provide souvenirs and refreshments to the partakers of the walk.
“She definitely came to watch us walk because all I could see was together with other few people taking pictures as we were walking, taking pictures as we were doing the aerobics; she didn’t get involved,” Kafui told Univers Sports.
The organizers of the pageant are yet to provide explanation for the poor show and failure to honor their part of the agreement.
