Presidential candidate for the Independent Peoples Party(IPP), Mr. Kofi Akpaloo has highlighted that he will borrow over $100 billion to fund a $ 10 billion job fund he intends to set up if voted into power.
“…we also will borrow more money. I want Ghanaians to understand, IPP government is ready to borrow over $100 billon to invest in this economy because we need the money.”
Mr. Apkaloo who said his Party believes in collective investment, will amend article 94 of the 1992 constitution which excludes persons with dual citizenship from occupying public offices if voted into power come December 7.
Speaking on Labour Front, Mr. Kofi Apkaloo attributed the need for this as being the high numbers of Ghanaians living outside the country who he believes will like to be involved in managing the affairs of the country. After amending article 94 of the 1992 constitution, Ghanaians with dual citizenship will be able to contest in parliamentary elections and hold public offices.
He further added that Ghanaians abroad will be given the opportunity to contribute to national development by paying a levy of at least $10 to $20 monthly to fund the $10 billion job.
